The Temple Of Jerusalem (prof. Simon Goldhill, Cambridge University)

The Temple of Jerusalem

NEW!!!  Jewish Studies for Christians Study Group is starting something new and exciting today!

Our group is now around 1500 people and one of the things we will do is read books together. Don’t worry no one has the time to read too many of them. 🙂

We will start by a book by Prof. Simon Goldhill from Cambridge University called “The Temple of Jerusalem”. It is very simply written book. It almost reads by itself! Brilliant insights are found throughout. I met the author personally. I was impressed by both his humility, charisma and ability to say complex things very simply.

At this point I would like you to let me know if you are interested. I suggest that you read 2-3 pages and see it for yourself. I found a downloadable free copy here and a hard copy here.

So, is reading an excellent book together with other people in the group at the same time interests to you? Would you take part in discussions? 🙂 I need to hear from you to understand, if there is a real interest to move forward on this. If you are interested, please, place a brief comment here to let me know or just email me at Eli.Lizorkin@eteachergroup.com

I am definitely interested in this. I teach adults at our church and this would be a great topic and this method would be a great way to become informed.

This evening I read for two hours in this book, and really, I don’t want to sleep this night! It is truly a very nice book with amazing facts and insights on the temple of Jerusalem. Great research, beautiful insights of the writer. It is written as a fascinating roman, without losing insight of the real facts. It is an enriching study on the biblical facts, historical and cultural development and backgrounds of the temple of Jerusalem. Furthermore, the impact on other religions, is worth knowing the temple of Jerusalem, which history has written on earth, and still writes history in the heaven. Definitely, a must to read and to study on. When you think, you can also give a meaningful and important contribution to the discussion on it, to the benefit of other readers and students, I would like to encourage you to make contact about this with Dr. Eli, together with relevant information about yourself. I want to ask you to be very real in this, but also not to be too humble.

Do you envision some sort of schedule?

Not really… just start reading and see how it goes. I think it is a very easy read and be people can be done with the book in 2-3 days.
